Perfect for busy weeknights or a casual gathering with friends, this recipe demonstrates how a few humble ingredients can come together to form something truly special.

  • Pasta: 14 oz (spaghetti, penne, or your preferred type)
  • Canned tuna: 8.5 oz (preferably in oil, drained)
  • Peas: 1 cup (fresh or frozen)
  • Onion: 1 small, finely chopped
  • Olive oil: 4 tablespoons
  • Salt: to taste
  • Black pepper: to taste

Prepare the ingredients:

If using fresh peas, blanch them for 3-4 minutes in salted water. If using frozen peas, you can skip this step.
Drain the canned tuna.

Cook the pasta:

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta until al dente, following package instructions.

Prepare the sauce:

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
Add the peas and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add the tuna:

Add the drained tuna to the pan and gently mix it with the other ingredients.
Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Combine the pasta:
Drain the pasta, reserving some of the cooking water.
Add the pasta to the skillet with the sauce and stir well to combine. If necessary, add a little more cooking water to mix everything together.

Divide the pasta among plates and sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley if desired.
Serve immediately.
