Today I propose a genuine dessert that is very simple to prepare, it really takes very little to make everyone happy.

The afternoon break will really be a unique goodness, accompany cin a cup of tea or coffee.

If you want you can replace the apples with pears, banana, persimmon your choice, definitely prefer seasonal fruit.

One square pulls the other, really an explosion of taste that will leave everyone speechless, here is the perfect recipe to follow.




For the dough

  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup of cornstarch
  • 5 tablespoons of butter (melted)
  • 1/4 cup of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 packet of baking powder (about 2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • juice of 1 lemon

For the filling

  • 2 cups of ricotta cheese
  • 1 1/4 cups of powdered sugar
  • 2 apples

For decoration

  • powdered sugar (as needed)



  • Wash the two apples, peel them, and cut them into small cubes.

  • Place the apple cubes in a bowl and add some lemon juice. Mix well with a spoon.

  • Next, take the ricotta cheese and put it in a strainer. Let it drain for a bit.

  • In a bowl, put the eggs and sugar and mix well.

  • Use an electric mixer to get a light and frothy mixture.

  • Gradually add the butter, cut into small pieces, and blend well.

  • Add the sifted flour and cornstarch, the vanilla extract, and the milk in a thin stream, mixing continuously with the electric mixer.

  • Finally, add the baking powder.

  • As soon as you have finished, pour the dough into two square baking sheets covered with baking paper and level them well.

  • Bake in a hot oven at 350 F for 20 minutes, then take out of the oven and let cool.

  • Meanwhile, put the powdered sugar and ricotta cheese in a bowl and mix with a spoon, then add the apples and mix well.

  • On one base put the filling and level well, cover with the other part of the cake and then sprinkle with powdered sugar, cut into squares.

  • Serve and enjoy.

  • If leftover, store in an airtight container and refrigerate for 2-3 days
