Is there a dessert more delicious and immortal than the chocolate ciambellone?

A classic dessert for breakfast and snack, the dessert of our grandmothers and probably one of the first cakes we make as children with almost always assured success.

Cooking time: 45 minutes

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup of dark chocolate
  • 1 cup of butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup + 2 teaspoons milk
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder with a pinch of vanilla extract
  • powdered sugar (for dusting)

 

METHOD:

Melt the chocolate for 3 minutes at 600 watts in the microwave or in a bain-marie and let it cool.

Cream the butter together with the sugar with electric whips, also add the egg yolks and continue beating for a few minutes.

Add the melted chocolate, milk and gradually the flour, starch and baking powder to the mixture as well.

Whip the egg whites stiffly as well and add them to the rest of the mixture.

Butter a bundt cake mold by placing parchment paper around it so that it becomes extra tall even without the tall mold.

Bake at 350 F for about 45 minutes.

Always do the toothpick test before baking the fluffy chocolate donut mold.

Let it cool completely and dust with powdered sugar.

 

Tips: if you want you can also use milk or white chocolate but in this case slightly decrease the amount of sugar.
