***Simple syrup is a sweetening agent commonly used in cocktails and other beverages. It is made by dissolving an equal amount of granulated sugar in water over high heat, creating a clear, sweet liquid.

Syrup is used because it mixes easily into cold drinks, unlike granulated sugar, which can be difficult to dissolve in cold liquids.

Simple syrup is also used in cake and dessert recipes to add sweetness and moisture.

It is a versatile ingredient that is easy to prepare and can be flavored with herbs, spices or citrus peel to add complexity.
