Peaches In Wine represent a delicious and traditional Southern Italian Recipe that is incredibly simple to prepare and requires no cooking.

This preparation involves letting the peaches soak in red wine for about an hour in the refrigerator, allowing the wine to absorb the fruit’s flavors and transform the peaches into an alcoholic dessert.

The wine is then consumed with the meal, while the alcoholic peaches form a unique dessert in place of the fruit.

This preparation is so popular in Naples that it is also known as “Sangria Napoletana,” probably due to Spanish influence.

This recipe is extremely simple and, according to the most authentic tradition, requires no additional flavoring or sugar.

Red wine is the traditional choice, and the peaches used are yellow ones, commonly known in southern Italy as “percoche.”

Typically, one peach is calculated for each glass of wine.

The special feature of this recipe lies in the cool temperature of the red wine, while the peaches contribute a delicate fruity aroma to the mix.

SERVINGS:2

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup of red wine
  • 2 peaches

METHOD:

To prepare peaches in wine, we start by rinsing, peeling and slicing the yellow peaches, obtaining four slices for each fruit.

Next, we arrange the sliced peaches in a pitcher by pouring red wine over them until they are covered.

We then transfer this fruit and wine mixture to the refrigerator and let it chill for at least an hour.

We can then enjoy Peaches In Wine during lunch or as an aperitif.
