Light, airy and filled with delicious cream, these delectable treats are a perfect addition to any gathering or a delicious afternoon snack.

Follow this simple but elegant recipe to create your own batch of heavenly cream puffs that are sure to impress your friends and family.


 

 

 

 

INGREDIENTS:
– 3/4 cup of  water
– 1/3 cup of  butter
– 1 cup of all purpose flour
– 3 eggs
– 1 pinch of salt
– I also added 1 heaping tablespoon of sugar
– zest of 1 lemon
– 1 tsp of vanilla extract

PREPARATION:
1. Bring the water, butter, and salt to a boil. Once boiling, remove the pot from the heat and pour in the flour all at once. Stir to combine with the liquids, then return to the heat, continuing to stir until the mixture forms a ball. At this point, remove from the heat and let the dough cool, stirring frequently with a wooden spoon.

2. When the dough is cool, using an electric mixer with paddle attachments, add the eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon zest one at a time. In the end, you should have a mixture with the consistency of a cream. If the dough seems too firm, add an extra egg yolk.

3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and pipe small mounds of dough onto it using a pastry bag if possible. Preheat the oven to 400°F for about 10 minutes, then bake (in a static oven) your cream puffs at 400°F for the first 15 minutes (at this point, your cream puffs should have puffed up); after 15 minutes, reduce the oven temperature to 350°F and continue baking for another 15 minutes.

4. After baking, leave the cream puffs in the turned-off oven with the door slightly open until completely cooled.
