This delicious dessert perfectly combines the creamy richness of traditional cheesecake with the iconic taste of Sicilian cannoli.

With a buttery crust, a velvety ricotta and cream cheese filling and a crisp cannoli shell, this easy-to-prepare, no-bake masterpiece captures the essence of Sicily in every bite.


The harmonious blend of chocolate, orange zest and pistachios offers a taste sensation that transports you to the sunny landscapes of Sicily and elevates your dessert experience.

 

 

SERVINGS:10-12

For the crust:

  • 2 cups cinnamon or graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup melted butter

For the cheesecake filling:

  • 2 cups fresh ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup cream cheese (such as Philadelphia)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Grated zest of 1 orange
  • 1/3 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/3 cup chopped pistachios

For the cannoli shell topping (You can also use ready-made cannoli shells.)

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
  • A pinch of cinnamon

 

 

METHOD

Start by preparing the crust: Mix the cracker crumbs with melted butter. Press the mixture into the bottom of a springform pan, creating an even layer. Refrigerate while preparing the filling.

In a large bowl, combine the fresh ricotta cheese, cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and orange zest until you get a creamy mixture.

Add the dark chocolate chips and chopped pistachios to the ricotta mixture and mix well.

Pour the filling over the crust in the springform pan, smoothing the surface with a spatula.

Prepare the cannoli shell topping by combining flour, powdered sugar, melted butter, cocoa powder, and a pinch of cinnamon. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and create circular shapes. Let them cool for a few minutes.

Arrange the cannoli shells on the surface of the cheesecake, pressing them down lightly.
I prefer to crumble them as shown in the photo.

Refrigerate the cheesecake for at least 4 hours or preferably overnight to set.

Before serving, you can further decorate with additional chopped pistachios and chocolate chips if desired.
