Meatballs are the classic ground meatballs that I make with my mom’s recipe, tender and tasty.

Then dipped in a very good tomato sauce enriched also by delicious and sweet peas.

In short just a recipe that I recommend you try as soon as possible and don’t forget to let me know if you liked it.

SERVINGS:4

INGREDIENTS:

FOR THE MEATBALLS:

  • 14 oz of ground beef
  • 1 cup of stale bread
  • 1 egg
  • 4-5 tbsp of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese
  • 1 cup of milk
  • parsley to taste
  • salt to taste
  • breadcrumbs to taste

FOR THE SAUCE:

  • 2 cups of frozen peas
  • 2 cups of tomato puree
  • 1 onion
  • extra virgin olive oil to taste
  • salt to taste

METHOD:

Soften the stale bread in a bowl with milk.

Prepare the Meatballs:

Mix in a bowl the ground meat with the soaked bread, egg,  cheese, finely chopped parsley and a pinch of salt.

Mix the mixture well and then form the meatballs with your hands lightly sprinkled with breadcrumbs.

Place a few tablespoons of evo oil and the thinly sliced onion in a large frying pan.

Add the meatballs as well and let them brown well on all sides, turning them with a wooden spoon.

Now pour the frozen peas into the pan as well and let them soften for a few minutes.

Pour the tomato puree and half a cup of water into the skillet as well, adjust the salt and let the Meatballs with peas in sauce cook for about 30-35 minutes over low heat, covering the skillet with a lid and turning them from time to time.

Serve them with slices of bread to make a scarpetta in their delicious sauce.
