My Sausage Ragù recipe combines the goodness of Italian sausage with the tart sweetness of tomato puree, creating a luscious sauce perfect for topping your favorite pasta.

With a mix of crumbled and whole sausage pieces, this ragout offers a delicious texture that is sure to please your palate.


Let’s dive into the recipe and bring a taste of Italy to your table.

You can also add carrots and celery to the onion.

I only use onion because my children like it that way.

Ingredients:

  • 14 oz Italian sausage (i use only pork sausage)
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 18 oz tomato puree
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine

 

METHOD

 

Pour the oil into a pot and let it heat.

We finely slice the onion and add it to the oil, over low heat until browned.

Let’s take 2 pieces of sausage, remove the skin and crumble it by adding it to the oil with the onion.

With a spoon, we stir and crush the sausage, leaving it to brown.

Now we add the rest of the whole sausage pieces and stir.

We let it cook for about 5 minutes over low heat, stirring occasionally.

Now we add the white wine, increase the flame and let it cook for another 5 minutes until the wine evaporates.

 

Now we add the tomato puree.

 

We adjust the salt, lower the flame and let it cook for about 1 hour.

The sausage ragù is ready.

 

 

You can season your pasta and serve the sausage as a main course.
