  • 1 custard recipe doubled (find recipe here)
  • 6 eggs, room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1½ tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour




Prepare the custard and set aside to cool.
Separate the eggs into two bowls.
Whisk the egg whites until stiff and set aside.
In the second bowl, mix the egg yolks and sugar until lemon colored. Add the baking powder and vanilla and mix.
Add the flour a little at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Incorporate the beaten egg whites with a spatula.
Pour the batter into a buttered and floured pan and bake in a preheated oven for 45 minutes or until cooked through.
Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool.
Cut the cake horizontally and add the custard with a pastry bag. Decorate the top of the cake with the custard using the pastry bag.
