From watermelons a not-too-strong, sweet but thirst-quenching alcoholic beverage, perfect to enjoy on these hot summer evenings.

Get your little glasses ready!




INGREDIENTS for 750 ml. of liqueur (3 cups+2 tbsp)

  • 10 oz of watermelon (peeled)
  • 1 cup of pure alcohol at 95% (you can use Everclear)
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 cup of sugar




Peel the watermelon, remove all the seeds, cut it into cubes and place it in a jug that has an airtight seal (alternatively, you can use an ordinary jug, but remember to put food wrap before putting the lid on).

Pour the pure alcohol over the watermelon cubes, close the jug and set it aside for a week in a dark, cool place.

After the 7 days have passed, take the jar back with the watermelon and alcohol, give it a quick stir then blend it all with an immersion blender.

Meanwhile, heat the water with the sugar until the sugar has completely dissolved, then let it cool.

Using a fine-mesh strainer, strain the puree obtained by blending the watermelon with the alcohol and add it to the completely cooled water with sugar.

Bottle it, let it sit at least two weeks before drinking it, and–cheers–to your watermelon!

The liqueur will keep in the refrigerator and should be enjoyed cold.

Shake well before consuming.
