This recipe is a celebration of simplicity and quality ingredients, showcasing the timeless combination of fresh mozzarella, vibrant tomato sauce, and aromatic herbs.

SERVINGS:6

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 mozzarella cheese
  • tomato sauce (a can of peeled tomatoes works great)
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil
  • fresh oregano to taste
  • 3 basil leaves

METHOD

IN THE PAN

In a skillet, sauté the garlic in the olive oil, and as soon as it starts to brown, add the peeled tomatoes.

Add salt, pepper, and oregano, and let the tomato sauce cook for at least 15 minutes.

The next step is the most important: add the Mozzarella cut into fairly large pieces, and let it flavor for a few minutes.

Before serving it piping hot at the table, add the basil leaves, they will release a splendid aroma beyond goodness.

Baking Method

Heat a couple of tablespoons of oil in a casserole and let the garlic brown.

Remove the garlic (if you don’t like finding it in the dish) and pour the tomato puree or peeled tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper into the casserole.

Let the sauce cook for about 15 minutes over medium heat and covered.

If, after the indicated time, the sauce should still be liquid, remove the lid and let it thicken for a few more minutes.

When the cooking is finished, remove the casserole from the heat and place the pieces of mozzarella.

Cover with the remaining sauce and sprinkle with plenty of grated Parmesan if you like, so you can serve it gratin at the table.

Tips:

For the sauce, the one left over from the day before is also fine, in fact, Mozzarella Pizzaiola is a recipe useful for intelligently using your leftovers.
