Imagine a delicious fusion of crisp, golden balls of dough lovingly embraced by a rich, velvety chocolate coating.
These delicious morsels, adorned with a sprinkling of colored sprinkles, are more than just a dessert: they are an edible work of art, a culinary masterpiece destined to captivate your senses.
- 1+ 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
- 3/4 cup of bitter cocoa powder
- 3 eggs
- 5 tbsp of butter
- 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
- orange peel (half an orange)
- 2 tbsp of honey
- colored sprinkles to taste
Put the flour in a bowl, add the cocoa, sugar and mix a little.
Add softened butter at room temperature, eggs and orange peel.
Knead until smooth and homogeneous.
Let the dough rest for 1 hour in the refrigerator.
With the dough taken from the refrigerator form small balls, they should be a little smaller than hazelnuts, lay them on the baking sheet lightly greased with oil so as to avoid making the struffoli stick.
Bake according to the data sheet and, while they are still warm, add the honey first and then the colored sprinkles.
When forming the balls, since they tend to stick to the fingers, we can moisten the hands with water or corn seed oil for a stronger flavor.
